Last Saturday was World Diabetes Day (WDD) with the theme for 2020 being "Nurses Make the Difference". This is one of the worlds largest and most successful awareness campaigns aimed at providing education about the escalating health threat posed by diabetes, along with medical updates and support for people living with this disease. Launched in 1991, the 14th November was chosen as the official annual date for WDD in recognition of Sir Frederick Banting, a medical scientist who co-discovered Insulin and was the first person to use it on humans.
